Every video, clip, thumbnail, paste and avatar on the network lives here, keyed by tenant app. Apps authenticate with constant-time keys or offline-verified user tokens, and cross-tenant access is a hard 403.

Recording. VODs are pulled from RTMP or ingested over RTP/SDP with codec passthrough, then finalized through remux, probe, master-recovery, thumbnail and webhook steps. A background health scanner probes, decodes and quarantines broken files.

Storage tiering. Files move from local disk to Backblaze B2 and Cloudflare R2 under disk pressure and play back through presigned URLs. Two production incidents shaped it: ghost rows starving the drain, and a file-descriptor leak from aborted range requests pinning 81 GB of unlinked files. Both are now guarded by design, including an fd watchdog.

Clips. Failed cuts retry with backoff and pull cloud VODs back to hot storage on the second attempt, because seeking a fragmented MP4 over HTTP scans the whole file.

Privacy. View counting is per visitor per six hours using an HMAC of the IP; raw addresses are never stored. Avatars from any site are ingested server-side, SSRF-checked and re-encoded, so no client-supplied image URL is ever stored or served.
